Project Fox Devlog - 5/18/24

Hey, it's been a while. Things have changed quite a lot.

For me personally, that is. The game is still pretty much a walking simulator. A few months ago, I decided to just start from fresh. The project was a mess. It was not polished at all, the models looked like shit, and the textures were hideous. I also wiped my computer and forgot to back it up, so that was a fun experience.

I'm definitely a lot more competent in Unity now. I actually have a slight idea on how coding actually works, rather than copying tutorials word for word. I also know how to model and animate in Blender, so the player character looks a lot better.

Speaking of the player character, Foxy, he has gotten pretty much an entire redesign. His design has aged poorly, he looks like a 9 y/o designed him, or well he used to. I'd say he looks a lot better now. As mentioned before, I actually know how to use Blender now, so the player model is no longer designed in Paint 3D.

As for the game itself, it has barely changed. While I am a bit competent in using Unity, you know, prefabs and gameObjects n shit, I still do not actually know how to code. Once again, the game is still just a walking simulator, just easier to look at I suppose. I actually have been slowly working on the game, however. Mostly just planning. The storyline and level themes are pretty much set in stone, I don't think I'll be changing them very much after this.

Oh yeah, I also switched back to the name "Project Fox" as I don't think "Adventure of the Elements" is very fitting for my envision of the final product.

Don't worry, I actually do have some content to share. I've been starting to design the levels and some of the bosses. It's mostly just concept art and mock-ups.

TL;DR: The game itself has barely changed aside from getting a major glow-up, I actually know how to use the software I am developing in, and the levels and storyline have been decided. I also still don't know how to code.
